Folks, some input please ?

I'm trying to put together a 'series' of 'arty' pics of our native (initially) Herps. The idea is to create a series of prints, all in the same style - just for fun really.

First template is of a Grassy, and I would welcome constructive criticism, any thoughts gratefully received. The theme will be wide borders with the subject breaking through somewhat. Anyhow, see below.

Good concept and excellent presentation. The cutting out on the snakes head is crisp and I like the tones in the image. Can't wait to see more!

Works for me, might have gone for a bit less of the body and made it more of a head study myself but I like it

Tis a good point Gemma raises, I was torn between going for just a head, or trying to get some of a snake's body character into the pic. Being English, I compromised :P

But I'll try a few focusing on the head and see how it looks.

Thanks for comments guys.

...Although seeing some of the body gives a more overall idea of the snake and the black markings help to make it stand out from the background do you think? Try putting your hand over part of the picture on your computer and see how it looks. Just an idea....

Nice pic by the way.

Nice idea. The only bit that throws me is the lack of black line around the snout. I know this is supposed to appear like it is breaking out from the picture, might I suggest a slight shadow under the head>

love it Steve, think the grassies spot on, perhaps a few sprigs of grass poking out around the borders if its not to delicate to achive.
